What can VIN tell me?

I just purchased a 2002 'Burb LT and was wondering if the VIN can be used to tell me what options are installed in the vehicle. For instance, how can I tell if the vehicle has a locking rear differential, block heater, side impact air bags, full blown tow package, etc.

 

I guess what I'm really looking for is the information supplied on the original window sticker. Any way to get this info from the VIN or other??

In the glove box is a list of RPO codes. To the left of this page is a link to the RPO codes. Grab that list, and head out to your glove box. That will give you all the info you want to know.
