Mystery pigtail

Would any one know what this pigtail is for its behind the grill in front of the radiator midway between the top and bottom it has a green cap over the plug as nothing is there for it to plug in to it. Is it for a option.

the truck is a 03' 4.8 LS EC 1500

Well I was going to say for the thermometer but since yours is an LS I am asuming you have it, so not sure.

Does the LS have the compass/temperature in the rearview mirror?

That location sounds like where they mount the little sensor to read the air temperature.

Do you have a towing package on your truck? I just happened to look at mine before reading this post and I believe it is for the tranny fluid cooler.

No factory towing package, I am looking at installing a dual fluid cooler.

But i have never seen one with electrical connector.
