Winter Washing & Salt in Cold Climate

Allrighty...have registered here a bit ago, but not posted too much.  First, will that forum newbie status change and when/how?

Now to the real topic- I live in NE Ohio where the roadsalt is plenty.  I tend to use Meguiar's stuff on my Indigo Blue silverado and have good success with it.  I try to wash Big Blue weekly, but with the winter weather, it gets difficult.  In fact, I washed the truck yesterday and it was freezing before I could get it dry.  Anyone have any suggestions to hand washing in the winter?  Or other alternatives to washing at home.  We have the self-pressure washing places here...did that last year, but it left a film on the truck.  Also have the automatic no-touch and the regular "touchless washes".  Anyone have suggestions.  I know the pressure washing places don't really want you bucket washing, and I don't know about their water either.  Any thoughts?  Sorry about being long-winded, and thanks for the help.

Bill,

I received an e-mail from you today, but I think it got messed up during the process of being sent.  It had some jumbled words and I think some words may have gotten lost in the process.  I did make out that you were asking about some of the R&D products.  If you don't mind, you can re-send it or ask here.  Sorry.

I don't have much advice for winter washing.  I'm from WV, but have lived in SC since I was 18, and our winters are more like fall back home. :)  What part of NE Ohio are you from?  I have an Aunt, Uncle, and cousin that live in Mansfield.

i live in MI and i am customed to the same problem. i go to a do-it-yourself wash that also has touchless carwash bays. i go during slow hours so i can bring my bucket without upsetting others. i quickly wash my truck myself in the cold weather and then go through the automatic touchless wash and get air dried. hope i helped some.

The car washes here in Western PA in my home town, have what the call "spot-free rinse".  It is ionized or de-ionized water and it actually works pretty good.

They built a new auto-touchless about 6 blocks from my house this year.  I stopped and asked if my truck would fit, and they said yes.  I'm going to try it this morning on the way to work.  It has the "jet dryer" option also, so most of the water will get blown off...

Your "Forum Newbie" status will change as you put up a few posts.  Not too many before you are a "Serious Member"  I think 50?  Don't have to impart much knowledge, just the number of posts.

Trust me.
