Dumb mod Question

Anybody heard of cutting the bottom of your factory intake and pluging up the hole for better air flow. (that big 2lt bottle looking thing hanging off of it)

 

The reason i'm asking is, it is storm season and the cold air system is an open element. and the filter might get wet. and when that is over the intake will go back on.

 

Intake is a Mac system with a heat sheld
