how to shut off the heat or ac.

this is my second chevy new body style truck that i cant turn the air off. i want to be able to turn the heater off and no air come in at all through the vents. they way i have to do it know is always turn it to defrost once i turn it off so the air wont blow in my face...any one else have this problem?

As far as I know you always have fresh air coming in as long as your moving. It's just a matter of where you want it coming in at.

I raised helll about this once at the dealer.

 

It cycles the compressor automatically, nothing you can do about it.

 

Pastor, I've tried what you said, but for me at least, it was only a temporary fix. Maybe cuz I'm in Houston, land of humidity...

The reason the vent and blower are always on is to prevent carbon monoxide buildup in the cab.

It's called flow through vents. The air will only come through the truck when the vehicle is moving. If you turn it off position when stopped no air will come through. When moving if you turn you vent selector to the floor it will come out on the floor if you have it no the vents it will come out the vents. As others have said if you put it in the button that cycles the air back through the vehicle you won't have this problem. All vehicles will blow air no matter ford, chevy, dodge or whatever. We have them all here at work and they all do have the flow through ventilation.
