Updated Wester's Tune...

After reading about some of the new features that Lyndon has come up with lately I decided it was time for a change to my current tune.

My truck has 48K miles on a 4.8L, 4L60E, 3.42 rear combo...Magnaflow dual outlet muffler, Full synthetics, and AC/Delco Paper air filter (I got 1 MPG more with the Amsoil Air Filter.)

With the 89 tune, I've been averaging ~18-19 MPG on my normal commuting lately. (70 miles round trip, ~70-80 MPH all highway)

After 200 miles on the new tune, which has consisted of some hard driving.. 0-100MPH a few times, WOT on the highway about 5 times from ~60 to 110MPH. For those 200 miles of driving crazy, I averaged 20.6 MPG. I fill up at the same station everytime, usually the same pump, and calculate my mileage every time I fill up.

I'm going to do the same thing in another 200 miles, so I'm hoping for about 22 MPG this time if I can drive like a normal person... The power difference is apparent also, midrange and upper RPM's on the highway are crazy now, a lot faster than stock and the 89 tune. Low end is a little better than the old tune. With the 3.42 rear end, I don't expect to have much low end anyways, but it is still a whole lot stronger than stock now. Breaks the tires loose under anything over half throttle from a dead stop, and will chirp 2nd if in Tow/Haul on smooth pavement.

My old tune's specs were as follows:

-89 Octane, specifically for gas mileage increase

-Lower torque management to ~15% of it still there

-Hold in Gear longer

-Raise Shift detents to 5600RPM, Same in Tow/Haul

-Firmer shifting regular, harder shifting in Tow/Haul

-Speed Limiter to 130

- Towing to factory limit

My new specs are:

-91/93 Octane "Hot" Tune

-"3D" Fuel Mapping

-Lower torque management to ~15% of it still there

-Hold in Gear longer

-Raise Shift detents to 5600RPM, 5800RPM in Tow/Haul

-Firmer shifting regular, harder shifting in Tow/Haul

-Speed Limiter to 130

- Towing to 5,000lbs, not very often

Oh yeah... Wester's Rocks. :cry::):cry:

Great man, glad to hear you are liking it! Hey Black, do it you will love it, in know as soon as mine was updated I went from 17.3 on the hiway to 19.6 immediately afterwards on the way home, getting a mile or two in town too, but with the new exhaust I put on, I like hearing her now and will have to keep it under control and see how good I can get the MPG's  ...later, :):)

Yeah, after reading your post when you got yours I couldn't wait any more! lol

If I'd just had my exhaust installed, it would take me about 5 tanks of gas to get a good MPG reading, I was all over the throttle when I first got my exhaust work done...

Glad to hear the Magnaflow worked out for you!

Give him a call Black&Gray, it only took about a week to get mine in, and I couldn't be happier...

The only thing I didn't like about this tune, is that I had to do the Security relearn procedure, took a while (I was ready to drive the truck) but started right up.

Glad those tunes are working out for you guys! My 91/93 dual hot tune with the 3Dmapping is showing similar improvements in gas mileage too.

So the 22" magnaflow gave you the sound you wanted Tony?

PM or e-mail if i can help in any way!

Hey if I can get 15% better mileage I can absorb 10% higher fuel cost. Add the extra performance and ..................................................yeooooow.

Will definitely have to give this some consideration.
