Looks like the OKC PD needs a little more education on how to properly execute the P.I.T. maneuver. Seems to me that they could have gotten the car to stop faster if they had a second squad there to keep the guy from recovering from the powerslide.

But then again, who am I to say what the police should do?

An oldie but a goodie, even better with the "theme song." Thanks!

They did the P.I.T. correctly it looks like.

I think it was a combination of great driver/performance car like that Mustang.

Most of the time when they do those P.I.T.s it some drunk, driveing a 82 Monte Carlo.

Actually, the kid in the 'stang had no idea what he was doing, he just got lucky. My wife was running dispatch for this chase as it was happening. the PIT Maneuvers were executed properly, he just got lucky. This was a punk kid that had a bench warrant and he ran from a speeding ticket. He was all hopped up on something.

I'm man enough to admit I was wrong. I'm glad that Mark_in_Tulsa and Aviator are here amongst other knowlegeable members to correct me.

But then, why don't PD's have a "P.I.T. enforcement" squad along with the initiating patrol in cases like this? Is it simply a matter of safety for all invloved as to why there is only one "enforcer squad" at a time?
