Banks PowerPAck for the 8.1L

I don't think you'll find many motorhome pilots on this forum. Read the page closely and you'll see what I mean. And besides, I'm getting more power than that with minor mods in the truck chassis. That's why Banks doesn't offer a "Power Pack" for the GM trucks.

If you want to help your 8.1,

check with Wester's.

Westers is not the end all solution in HD motorhome use. I would not recommand headers for a motor home because they can add a LOT of heat to a already warm engine compartment. I good free flowing quiet exhaust system would free up some ponies and lower engine temps a bit too under heavy load because of quicker blown down and cooling of exhaust gases due to lower downstream restrictions.

It does not matter as headers can greatly increase under hood temps and in a NBS truck with a tight fit and limited airflow it would really get hot when working hard. GM learned years ago the 454 would eat/crack exhaust manifolds it heavy duty towing in tigh installations and switched to a stainless steel manifold long ago. Headers would greatly increase the surface area for the amout of gas being routed and greatly heat the underhood air even more under heavy loads. It could lead to all kinds of problems on a hot day.

Don't get too uspset over Snowman, he stands to correct everyone. It's not like you could have the headers coated with thermal barrier, eh Snow? There's more than one way to skin a cat.

headers are better in all situations in my opinion, anyone who says otherwise has no experience with them at all
