Portable Navigation mounted permanently -- hmmm

i have purchased my GPS antenna (currently buying parts for the TNR swapout etc), but now i've come across the nice 5" and soon to be 7" and 10" touchscreen portable models from Lowrance. Thinking of mounting the 5 inch in the blank hole next to the stock 6 disk in dash. ofcourse i'd wire it in with the AUX input to have the mp3 capability and a USB cable dangling somewhere, but i have everything i need/want in 1 package (TN, mp3 player). 7" model could probably be installed in the lower center where the 6 disk add on chnager would go.

anywho, has anyone thought of this option? anyone done this route? would like to know and see pics if available.

here is what i'm talking about

Lowrance I-Way

thanks.

You're going to start running into the same problems (or choices) that I had to deal with. If you're going to connect the audio via an AUX adapter you need to realize that while using the NAV (and listening to the audio prompts) your only music option will be the mp3 player. You won't be able to listen to say XM or FM or a changer and the NAV since the head will be selected to AUX.

If you're OK with the limitations it looks like a neat setup.

:D
