Duals-power loss

I know if you go with to big a pipe you'll loose some low end...I was talking to the local muffler shop and he uses either 2 1/2 or 2 3/4 pipe and the chrome tips are around 12" long and 3" dia. will that setup cause much power loss ?

The muffler shop is right about the pipe the smaller pipe will create a compressed air effect of course depending on motor every motor creates a differnt amount of exaust pressure out the heads. when i put on the corsa kit on my truck i noticed that it was a straight through muffler litterly nothing inside but a pipe welded at both end and those little holes for the exaust to go through the channel system they have. i imagin that most 5.3, and 4.8 create enough backpressure at the cat forward pipes that this makes perfect sence to have the rest a straght through design to create more horse power.
