warranty and exhaust

I was reading something on a car forum about exhaust voiding warranty. Well I have a 2004 chevy 5.3l and I have a magnaflow muffler on it. Certainly that doesn't void your warranty does it? I paid extra for a 100,000mile warranty and I sure don't want to lose it.

 

Also, when I was getting the exhaust done I had a choice between 2.5'' pipes and 2.25'' pipes. Well I went with the 2.5'' and I was wondering what everyone else has? Is there really a difference between 2.5 and 2.25?

The only way they can deny your warranty claim is if the muffler directly contributed to the failure.

 

Basically, they can't deny your claim when your steering wheel falls off because you have an aftermarket muffler.

 

It's called the "Moss-Magnusson Act"...If you do a search on that, you'll get a bit more information.

 

As for your pipe size, a larger diameter pipe can decrease your backpressure, causing a slight loss in performance (usually on the bottom end of the RPM range)...but that doesn't mean that you did. Depends on the whole setup, and any other mods you may have done.
