97 fuse/relay box

97 c/k 1500 4.3 liter. I'm trying to remove the back cover from the fuse/relay box. There are lock release clips but I can't figure out how they work. Also the wiring drawing on my truck shows the fuel pump power from the fuel pump relay and or the oil pressure switch. With the engine running and 40 psi oil pressure I pull the relay and the truck dies. I thought once oil pressure was satisfied the fuel pump was fed thru this switch. When does the relay close for the 5 sec. prime or when the ignition is in start ? Can anyone shed some light on how It supposed to work. Thanks

The relay always powers the fuel pump. The oil pressure switch just turns it off if low pressure is detected.
