HP increasing mods?

BLiND

Recommended Posts

hi, I picked up a used '96 Tahoe 4x4 2-dr sport with the vortec-350 (treefiddy).

Anyways--- heads/cam/intake/exhaust/chip etc. give me the scoop. I want to go from the stock 250 to probably about 300 at the flywheel.

Thanks in advance.

buy the way, how far behing a gen 1. ford lightning am I in the 1/4 stock? (feels like my Tahoe would turn about a 17.0 1/4 vs. the 15.2 or so from a gen 1 lightning )

Maybe a set of JBA "cat-forward" headers cold be added to your list and a K&N FIPK along with a larger throttle body and a "HyperTech" to do all your own computer mods.  That with a freerer flowing exhaust should get you pretty close.

The first few HP's are easy to find and relativly inexpensive.  After that you have to shell out alot of cash to pick up just a few more ponies...

How about a Nitrous System.  That should give you 50-70 more horse whenever you want it.

For the 1/4 mile times I don't have a clue, but the Tahoe is no doubt a heavier vehicle than teh "Lightning".

you mean this?

click my beater!

thanks for the input, but

not interested in a power adder at all

Full exhaust-- headers, hi-flow cats, mufflers, whats that worth in terms of real-world HP?

K&N FIPK: eehhh... I have my misgivings about the dirt vacuum.

hypertech tuner: I'm curious-- details?

electric fan--- any problems with one on a 4x4 esp. if it tows?

thanks in advance.

I'd guess you'd see 25-30 "real world" HP from a full header/exhaust system.

How about a set of under-drive pullies?

Electric fans are OK because they are thermostically controlled.  I don't know about combining that with under-drive pullies though because you lose a little charging power, but I've never talked to someone with that set-up and it may actually do alright.  That combo is probably good for another 5-10 HP.
