AV w/ Z71 Pkg - Add K&N FIPK?

My Avalanche with a Z71 package has a "high capacity" air filter. Is adding the $260 K&N FIPK money well spent?

The K&N or Volant is worth it only if you mod the exhaust - air in/air out.

Real quick... I just wanted to echo gandolphxx's comment... I got no real performance/mileage boost on the modified intake of my '94 ZJ w/ 5.2L (318ci) until I dropped in a MagnaFlow flow through muffler (added 2.7 mpg to my hwy economy at 60 mph).

Might have done even better with headers and hi-flow cat, but it just wasn't in the budget.

Being a former Jeep guy, I can't *wait* to get started on the mods to my Av (w/ Z71, like you), but decided to wait until I learn more about the oil consumption issue I'm having.

Welcome aboard cuss, and yes, the K&N does make a great difference in performane. You may want to combine it w/ a less restrictive exhaust, more air in and more air out.
