Just installed some mud flaps

Hey guys,

Just went out today and found some molded mud flaps.

Just need some input on how they look and if I need to adjust them at all, etc...

BTW, I have the michelins LTX 285's

First the rear, which I think lined up pretty good and bottom edge is parallel with ground:

And the front, maybe some adjustment?:

Both are pretty close to being parallel to ground, but seems like bottom outer edge shows some tread.

I had the factory molded mud flaps installed. A week or two later, i got rid of them, because I found that they're molded with a big concave opening facing the tire, and because they don't protect the fenderwell in the back.

Which all may not be meaningful to you in South Carolina, but to me in Canada, the molded mudflaps wud just fill up with mud and ice and snow and junk and the rear ones would not keep anything from flying past the flap and rusting out the fender support etc.

So I got a set of nice rubber flaps with checkerplate trim. If you want I'll email photos. They're great and really do their job.

The molded ones work just fine for me, and my truck sees plenty of snow in northern WI, Chicago, etc. After 5 years, the inner fender well and support in the rear look better than half the new trucks I see rolling around. The front ones will hold snow, but so will most vehciles, with or without OEM mud flaps. Yes I agree if your using semi truck style flaps, the snow has no place to stick to, plus it will fall off because they are allowed to move. But theres a trade off, OEM defintely looks the best.

SkyHigh, glad to hear it. I didn't mean to slag your mudflaps. I just wanted a little more protection because the crud we get here in the Rockies is beyond belief.

If anyone needs the factory molded ones, I can ship them to someone for a nominal cost. They're practically new, and say "GMC" on the back.

Your're probably right, I'm sure if went into some deep mud they would fill up or rip right off

Not much ice or snow here either.

I mainly drive on pavement and sometimes on dirt and gravel road. Seems to do ok (gravel etc... flying up against the body).

I guess if these break or wear out I'll look for something different.

No worries, I didn't take it personally....my old man put them on before i bought the truck off of him....I could take or leave them honestly. Yah our wimpy midwest winters hardly compare to yours!
