Honda Generator

We have a Honda generator, model number GA-6HZR. We bought it used, and it works great, but it is a bit on the loud side for our liking. We were wondering if this model would have been loud when it was new, or if it was quiet when new and is now louder. If it was quiet when new, would a new muffler solve our problem? If so, where would we be able to get one. If not, any other ideas what the problem could be? Thanks for any help

That genset should be rather quiet for a 11HP generator.

this is what Honda says about it:

The GA-6HZR model is ignited by an 11-horsepower Honda GX-340 engine and generates 6kW maximum/5kW continuous power. The generator is perfect for a wide variety of applications. At full load, the 201-pound (91 kg) GA-6HZR will run for 5.5 hours on a full tank. It is also extremely quiet, emitting only 74dBA at 23 feet.

My quess would be that the muffler is burned out. Most small engine repair shops should be able to get replacement parts.

Speaking of loud generators, you should hear my troybilt 5550. Holy roses it's loud. Sounds like it's got flowmaster pipes on it. I'd love for a way to make it nearly silent.

Just bought a brand new generator. It's not a Honda generator, but it does have a Honda engine. I'm not sure what noise level you're expecting, but they don't seem particularly quiet to me.
