instrument cluster problem

Hello,

I changed my stock gauge cluster to a platinum escalade cluster. As you probably know, when you do it resets your mileage to 0 miles. When I brought my old cluster to the technician to transfer the mileage to my new cluster, He said my old one was broken, and could not get an accurate reading of my mileage to transfer. Now, I have no idea what the exact mileage was in my original cluster was, so I don't know what to show in the escalade cluster. How can I find out what my real mileage is? I'm sure it is kept in the computer or something...can the dealer hook my truck up to a machine give me the accurate reading? It is a 2003 GMC Yukon. Also, will they void my warrenty because I switched the clusters? Thank you in advance!

I've been in these debates before, and I'm sure one will start again when I say... the mileage is stored nowhere else but in the cluster. There is nowhere a dealer, or anyone else for that matter, can get your previous mileage except from the original cluster.

Technically, if you're mileage has been modified or can't be determined, your warranty is null and void.
