Well the GM 1500 NBS Window regulators are P.O.S. . The Original on my '01 YUkon are just over 4 years old and the truck only has 39,000 miles. The wire cable shreaded and thas all she wrote.

Now If any of you have had this problem (and it seems a lot have) you know the dealer wants $ 240.00 - $ 279.00 for the part. OUCH!!!!!

Well I called around to the dealers and said no way in Heck am I going to spend that much for a piece of junk!

Called all of my local Parts stores and several could order the part and Finally found 1 that stocks it. With tax cost me $ 99.36. That includes a new motor, regualtor etc.

allready had the stock one out and it matches up bolt hole for bolt hole. Looks like the factory one also.

The replacement is MFG by Dorman products the part # for the Yukon / Tahoe (2001) is 741-644

Man I don't understand Gm charging so Much for the part.

Yea, mine is starting to get noisy...How hard is it to remove the door panel. Once off is it a pretty straight forward project???

I wouldn't mind pulling the panel and see what is going on with the noise I'm getting.

It's real easy. pull off the triangular cover up by the mirror (clips on only)

remove 1 screw (8mm) behind the pull handle

remove the power door lock /window switch, pop-up only 2 clips in place

remove 1 screw(8mm) behind the switch assembly

Now slowly lift straight up (same direction the glass moves) up the whole door panel

before pulling fully away you will need to remove wiring (clip) to the tweeter if your model has them

and remove the lower light harness (clearance light when door open)

then remove door handle (10MM bolt) remove clip that holds rod on the door handle

remove water shield

the 2 slider rails of the regulator is held in place with 3 (10mm) bolts on the left slder rail and 2 (10mm) bolts on the right rail plus 1 (10mm) bolt on the motor.

pulling the assembly out is simple as the 2 sliders are attached to each other by the flexible lift cables.

the whole job should only take about 1 hour taking your time.

I wonder how much the dealer gets for the whole deal (parts & labor) $ 350.00 to $ 450.00 ????
