Driveshaft question

Is the driveshaft the same for a 2wd vs 4wd? Are they the same length? I was going to buy the tailpiece for my trans (4L60E), remove the transfer case and run it as a 2wd just to see if the noise in reverse is coming from the transfer case or the trans. I need to find the cause soon as my trans is still under warranty and would be fixed free of charge. The problem is described in my previous post "Reverse Bang"

If the transmission is still under warranty, take it in, and tell them it's making noise. They'll either fix it, or rule it out.

No, the transfer case is longer than a 2wd tailshaft. The driveshafts are different.
