Airbags and new HU

I have an 05 Envoy SLT with the 6 Disk Cd changer with XM and Bose in the HU. I want to change the HU with an Alpine touch screen but I have heard if I change the HU the airbags will not function. Is this true if I change the HU will the airbas stop working or is there an adapter I can use.

YES. actually they will deploy at random.

that's not the worst of it. It will notify on-star and GM even f you don't have a dog.
