I have both, and they both have their goods and bads.

I've got the 40 (maybe 50, I'm not 100% sure) series on my '92, and it's pretty d**n loud, but sounds awesome with the pipes just dumped over the rear axle. But I rarely drive that truck, so the loudness is no big deal.

I've got a Magnaflow welded in place of the stock muffler on my '02 and it's pretty quiet 90% of the time, which is exactly what I wanted for my daily driver.

not runnin a 70 but with 2 3inch 40s that 8.1 is a monster and gives what i think is a great sound

not the loudest truck but i had to put somthin on other than that factory muffler to open up the true duals from the headers back

all mufflers are (good) in alot of different ways it all depends on how long ur planning on keeping your truck and also how loud you want it :sigh::cheers:

Hey Wingnut,

What Magnaflow do you have? I would like a bolder sound but I don't want it really load. I am interested in picking up a little low end (even though I have the 8.1). I don't mind it getting a little loud when I really get on it. But like you I'd like it a little quieter most of the time.

Also, are you runnign an after market cold air intake? If so which one?

Thanks,

I'd be interested in hearing what people thought as well. I just had a 50 series Delta installed on my 6.0L Monday and I think it is a little loud for my taste. I am thinking about going to the 70 but want it to be more aggressive than stock. Anyone heard the 50 BB vs the 70 BB?

70 series all the way. Had it on my old 88 GMC 1500 and the sound was incredible. Just waiting to put them on my new to me truck. Have to do a few more upgrades first.

bud,

I guess that I'm the only one that runs a 70 series flowmaster with an 8.1L. It sounds great. Its not very loud, just a deep growl. Interior noise is much lower than with a 40 or 50 series. I've owned and installed many flowmaster systems and you just can't go wrong. The 70 series is the muffler to have if you want to keep the interior noise down.

I have an '05 with the 6.0L and put a 50 Delta Flow on last monday and there was simply too much cabin drone for me. Went back this morning and they put on the 70 Big Block II. Took them 25 minutes total. I went DI/SO and used the stock Denali tip.

Ironically, I called Flowmaster the other day and they said that the 70 doesnt fit. I dont know how it couldnt fit. The stock muffle could have a dead body in it its so large. The 70 works and I really liek the sound. Nice deep, but mellow rumble, at idle. Its deeper than stock but not as raspy as the 50 DF. I did love the raspiness of the 50 DF but the resonance was just too luch with the 6.0.

The p/n for my 70 is 52573 although I have a dual in and online this reflects SI/SO.
