Silvarado Buckets Seats

Have a 2005 Silverado Ext Cab 1500. As it happens I'm sure to many, I overlooked a specific detail of the seating configuration when I purchased the vehicle. Noticed that the passenger reclining position is shallow and not deep like many vehicles most notably my 93 Cad Deville which allowed the passenger to recline to a much more comfortable position than the Silvarado which reclines a little less than upright. Any way to modify this feature?? What was the thought process by the design team to limit the recline? Was it in case someone was sitting in the back seat and didn't need their knees banged up or was it just not considered?

The front seat should recline more than how you described. A little more than upright would be very uncomfortable. Not sure of the angle, but I agree it does not recline anywhere near most of the cars I've driven in. According to the structural engineer from the program sitting next to me, the GMT800 recline angle is limited by it's design and ofcourse, as always, customer specifications. But besides GM telling us how much, the design is a "linear type" recliner mechanism. Meaning that the recliner is not a typical pivoting type mechanism. The greater the recline angle, the longer the recline shaft has to be. In a crash, FMVSS testing criteria must be met and passed. The screw length must be limited to meet this criteria, therefore limiting recline angle...

That's the reader's digest version. It's a bummer cause my pimpstick just doesn't have the same affect when I can't drive from the back seat :cheers:

Why thank you Yukon04.

It's what I thought it might be. And considering how spoiled we'd become in those other vehicles with a better recline, I'll know better the next time I buy. This really isn't comfortable for the little lady who like to snooze. Seems like the older we get, the more forgetter we become.

    • 2020 2500 HD...I had some trouble getting the key into the ignition switch but went in fine after applying some extra effort. Since then, the door chimes when open when the key is out of the ignition. Also, when I lock the doors with the switch on the arm rest, the driver door locks but then unlocks. (I can lock everything fine with the fob) The message on the little screen displays the "Engine Hours"...kinda weird.   I'm guessing something happened to the ignition switch and it thinks the key is still in there. I unplugged the batteries for 20 minutes, no change. There are a number of videos on YouTube but nothing I can find that address this specific issue. Ideas appreciated, thank you.
    • Based on what I can tell, yes.   As for updating it, its a mixed bag.  Updates do fix a lot of issues, but occasionally can create some oddities.  They do more good than harm though overall.     Here's what the most current one does and a  V171 Improvements Important: Improvements will vary by model, build configuration, system, and sales region. • Looking for help troubleshooting a metallic like front end rattle. Figured I’d see if anyone had thoughts before I schedule an appointment with the dealer.   The rattle is fairly loud and occurs primarily when the front driver side wheel hits a bump, even fairly minor road seams. Sometimes does it when the passenger hits a bump but I don’t believe when the rear hits. Rattle still occurs when foot is pressing brake peddle so I think that rules out the caliper rattle I’ve read about. I’ve also checked the running boards and they are tight.   Most noticeable at slow speeds.    Any insight is appreciated.
    • We try to make cruise the coast. It’s where our favorite casino is. I only want to spectate. Never took a car. Always had one to take. I belonged to a club once. Even when I used to drag raced. It was during test and tune. Probably because I’m not a night owl, party person.
    • We had a pretty big cars and coffee in Indy this past weekend.  Pretty much anything and everything was there.
