X-Cab Stainless Step Bars

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for stainless step bars for my 03 x-cab and I like the looks of the GM style because the step pad is one long piece for both doors rather than two little step pads like the style of the Westin and other aftermarket bars.

Anyone have any good/bad experiences they would like to share about their step bars?

Will the single, long step pad (GM style) be more prone to warpage/aging problems than the two short step pads like the Westin style bars have?

Anyone know of any quality aftermarket bars that have the long single step pad?

Anyone have the GM bars and have comments about fitment/durability/maintenance issues?

Thanks

Sounds like you want nice bars for your truck. I do not know where you live, but if winter and salt are concerns stainless is the only way to go. I live in the mountains of NC where we get quite a bit of winter weather and the road salt to go with it. When I started looking at nerf bars I was sure I wanted stainless so I did a little research and found Nasta nerf bars. The best thing about these bars were the mounting hardware was also stainless. I'd never heard of this company but eventually found they were a part of "Ta Chen International;" which I think is from Taiwan. I was a little worried about quality. However I soon learned the Nasta truck accessories were made in Bristol, Tennessee {(877) 891-0816}. I located a local dealer who swore by the things but wanted big money for his bars. So just out of curiosity I looked on ebay and found my bars at an Ebay store, "Your Wheelman." I decided to give it a shot and ordered for Christmas last year. He's located in CA and as I said I'm in NC, but less than a week later I had my bars. Simple install and 8 months later I could not be happier. I know there are some good nerf bars on the market, but you might want to at least take a look at these. I'd highly recommend this ebayer as a possible source.

Whatever you decide good luck.

Thanks for the reply vroten. Road salt is a factor here in MO too, not to mention I like to buy the best stuff whenever possible. The Nasta bars sound like good stuff and I'm definitely going to give them a second look, but at the moment I'm leaning towards the GM style with one long step pad for both the front and rear door.

Anyone know of an aftermarket brand bar that has the long single step pad for both the front and rear door?

Anyone else have any good/bad comments about fitment or durability - comments on any specific brand?

Why are you so hung up on the single step pad? You are really limitimng yourself as far as options by doing that.

I install Step bars for dealers in Pennsylvania, and I use only solid polishes stainless steel. I have never had a single problem with rust.

The black ones and the chrome ones rust after a couple years. The black ones don't even last that long!!

I would not be as concerned with the step pad as I am with the material of construction.

Stick with a solid stainless and you will not be sorry.

These are the ones I use.
