Used shocks

I am just wondering how much a set of used (21K miles) shocks should go for?  They are the Z71 shocks

 

Im thinking $50? To high?

Usually, if stuff is in decent condition, a good rule of thumb is half of original price.  Sometimes a little more if the parts are rare or in unusually good shape, sometimes a little less if the opposite is true.  Sometimes ALOT less if the stuff if barely usable, but I think some Z-71 shocks with 21K miles would fall at the 50% rule.  I recently sold some KYB shocks with 2K miles on them for a little over half original value.

I think that 50 would sound about right.  BTW what are the shipping costs on those, I'm guessing 20 bucks at least because of the weight.

You stated that you sold some KYB's - if you dont mind me asking, were they bad or did you not like the ride.  I am trying to decide what kind of new shocks to put on my Z71 and out of Bilsteins, KYBs, and trailmasters I am not sure which one I want.

The KYBs were on my '74 Corvette, they were part of a suspension package I bought.  They handled great, but were pretty stiff on the bumps.  I thought it was just the way I set up the suspension, but then I got a set of Bilsteins.  Same handling or better, but they really smooth out the bumps, especially the little stuff that the KYBs really picked up.  I would recommend the Bilsteins based on my experience.  Same or better handling, much better ride.

BUT, they were about twice as much as the KYBs for my Corvette.

I have Monroe Reflex SUV shocks on my '76 Suburban.  Great ride, great handling, nearly eliminated the nose-dive I used have under heavy braking.  Good price too, $35 each from O'reilly Auto Parts, installed them myself (of course!).
