2001 Chevy Tahoe 4x4 lift questions

I recently picked up a stock 2001 Chevy Tahoe 4x4 and it’s in need of some upgrades. The local 4x4 shop quoted me at a little under $4000 (including all labor) for the FabTech 6” susp w/ rs9000 triple x shock, some lt315/75r16 xterrains and some random 16x8 6-5.5” wheels at about $225 ea.

Does any body have any pics of a truck with a similar lift and tire? Anyone have any suggestions on what I could do for about the same amount? Should I go bigger 7” or 9”?

This is my first real vehicle and I want do it right the first time. Any suggestion/advice would be appreciated.

Research!

Dont just jump into it you will hate yourself later. There are so so many options. Everything from what kit. What kind of tires/brand/size/ and model... what style wheels, what size etc..

Everything plays a factor in the way a truck will look and perform.

fabtech.. ok, id opt for a procomp IMO or an RCD.

Wheels are a ton of options. Chrome, polished etc..

For sure take your time and look at all your options, jump on some of the sites like this one and GMfullsize.com or fullsizechevy.com and read and ask questions.

You will thank yourself in the end. I know this. I know a guy who went to a shop and said what can you do for me, they did the " ill get you a bla bla bla lift with such and suck tires/wheels for X amount of dollers"

Dont let THEM design your truck<---

His hind site being 20/20 makes him sick and he has changed much of what he should have done in the first place

After some research I think I have decided to go with the CST 8" dual shock w/ Bilstein's. It's that or the ProComp 6" w/ a 3" BL. But what size tires would fit best with the CST 8"?

Thanks Russell

How much pressure would I be putting on the front-end with 35's. I was thinking about going with 36's but was told it would put to much pressure on the front-end. Should I look for a lighter wheel and tire?

With the 6" CST cranked up you should be able to clear a 35 on a 10" wide wheel (might have to trim a tad). 35x12.50 that is

with a BL on top of that you could do a 36x14.50 or a skinny 37 if you really wanted to (esp. if you dont offroad)

Wear will increase. The weight of the tire has just as much to do with that if not a little more than size.

In general a 36's would put more stress on your suspension. But there are 35's out there that are unusually heavy that would put just as much.
