Losing clock and trip meter...

Heyya, Tech. I hope you know what's going on here !!

BTW, this is my neighbor's 2004 Impala  Oops !!

When he turns the key off, next time he gets in, the clock is at 12:00 and his odometer is displayed, when he left it on the tripmeter :jester:

He said it'll do it in under 5 minutes. I recommended trying it back to back, like turn it off then right back on, and to pull the radio fuse and see if his trip still... trips !!

What the heck is going on ?!!?

Thanks.

Sorry, I don't know what's going on there. Does this happen after a reSTART or does it only take getting in and turning the key on?

What I'm driving at here is, if it's during a start, it may be due to a momentary voltage drop during that high current demand.

There should be an ignition supply as well as battery supply for these items to retain the memory. Check the fuses, maybe one of them supplies battery power and is blown.
