ITS SO SIMPLE BETTER MPG NO JOKE

So we are spending tons of money on exhausts and intakes and everything else, Synth oil and the rest. Guys Ive tried them all and we all know deep down beside a little more power, THEY WERE A WASTE. I did some of them over the years and really had to lie to myself about the results. Truth Guys, after spending tons of cash on a gizmo, how many of us when asked by our pals really say the truth, (Oh yeh she's much faster, or stronger, or better, you should by it to. When deep in our hearts its really all in our heads. So you REALLY want better MPG then I tell you the truth if you dare, and im not talking 1.5 MPG increase im talking maybe up to 3 or even more. Do 2 things, number one, Run tires at highest safe air pressure, and number to (this is the big one now) drive slow. Now im not talking slow in the sense of ( how can I get around) but try this. For one tank full, at every stop sign , every red light, take off as slow as you can and increase speed untill up to speed limit not to go past 55. It will BLOW your mind when you see how much less gas you use and how much further a tank goes . Oh that sucks you say. Not for me, im going slower , safer, and much cheaper. Try riding a bike and start off as fast as you can as aposed to a gradual start , what uses more of your strenth. Hey I have a 04 Burb its heavy and to get going from 0 to 30 just to stop at the next light takes allot of gas. time your starts and stops, youll find like I did that by going slower I never have to stop for the next light, so I keep on rolling, remember its all about getting that big baby up to speed. The Egg under the gas pedal theory works BIG TIME. JUst try it.

Saving tons of money and gas

Pastor Scott, I agree with what you are saying. I've done a few things with vehicles over the years, and the best thing is to drive slower and save your money you spend on upgrades for gas. I think a lot of this is to do with age. Now that I am older, I really rather my truck nearly stock. With an exception of adding a toolbox and 285x75x16 tires, my truck is basically stock. Well, I do use synthetic oil, but mainly because I go with longer drain intervals. I would probably be better to use dino oil and change it when the message center says to. By the way, when these tires wear, I am considering going back to 265x75x16 tires. MMM

I've had a customer of mine tell me to keep it under 2000 RPM's while accelerating from a stop,I've tried it but man is it hard to do!!!

I didn't do it long enough to see a difference but he said it helped his mileage by 2-3.

I tried to do it for 1 tank, but you know I missed a few meetings of S.A.A. and it's so hard to start all over again.

Gee you guys are really getting tough on me, I guess I am getting old, Yes I to was once young , and not always a Pastor. I built jeeps and ran them hard, as off roading was a passion. I had many a friday night drag race with my buddies, but you know Im older now and being supported by a small church I try to keep expenses down. Hey I still got a flowmaster (still like the sound of a V8) and a K &N. And just between you and me, I do hit once in a while remembering those glory days.

Sorry to upset you all so much.

I have been trying to slow down myself. The last tank I drove 65 on interstate and speed limit on local roads and gained almost 2mpg. Every little bit helps.

OMG THANKS FOR THE ADVICE, I WOULD HAVE NEVER KNOWN THAT I SHOULD DRIVE SLOWER AND PUMP UP MY TIRES.

I finally broke the magical 20mpg mark. I filled up and ran a 1/4 tank of gas out during the labor day weekend, then topped off again and calculated 21.1mpg. I sort of figured the high number had more to do with the relatively small amount I used of the tank before refilling (aka not very accurate), but at the next fillup, where I'd let the truck get down to under 1/4 left I got 20.5mpg. Of course, this is all driving a lot like Pastor Scott is recommending (1-2 under posted speed limits, up to 65mph, easy takeoffs keeping rpms under 2000 where I can).

The basic idea to accelerate REASONABLY slowly is good. This appears to be some new fad because every radio and tv station has some einstein repeating this advice. Now I get behind people taking 1/4 mile to hit 25 mph, getting a bit absurd! They are probably lowering thei mpg because they are always in second gear. Just use common sense, or speed like a maniac.
