My only advice is if the OE plug wasn't platinum, then whatever you buy shouldn't be platinum either.  The Champion Truck Plug was the best of those I came across. Was essentially the old H.O.T. plug they used to make.  But I don't think that they make it anymore.  For platinum, I've been pretty impressed with the new Bosch Platinum+4 plug.  But you still can't lose with AC either.

ngk and bosch +4 platinum are the best for the new vortec motors,  you'll notice a difference  a big one from the factory plugs

If you have 96 or newer Vortec you don't need them till 100K miles. My old 96 5.7 lasted 90K miles before I changed them. The truck did not miss at all. They will last that long.

I changed mine @ 40K and I was shocked! they looked horrible and glad I did so don't wait like they say. my buddy works @ a dealer and he see this all the time.

I'm still into changing spark plugs every 30,000 miles

or so, unless equipped with the OEM AC Delco Platinums.

Even with the AC Delco Platinums, 45,000 is my personal

limit. Bosch makes one of the best (Super) conventional

plugs, but their Platinums are at the bottom of the Totem

Pole for longevity; in fact Consumer reports did a study on

platinum plugs. Run GM in your GM, AC Delco, you can't go wrong.

The problem with running plugs too long is that visually both the center and tail electrodes may look okay, however a high level of resistance bulds up in the spark plug itself, and actually backs up through the secondary ignition system. Ignition wires and coil packs are horifically priced for the second generation SBC. Change your plugs

at normal service intervals.
