I know this is a simple suggestion, but on your extended crank times, it could be the battery. That gradually happened to my '00 Yukon over the course of several months before my battery died. The green light (I know, it's not reliable) was full blast until the last day or so, but it was definitely due to the battery going. I did have close to 5 years on it and about 85K miles... since yours is only a few years old, might not be the batt., but could be?

Good suggestion, but my battery actually did just die on me...I thought okay good, I bet that was the problem

have a BRAND NEW battery and still does it. Its not like super long crank times, but longer than normal thats forsure.,.

Try turning ingnition to run, but waiting like 1-2 seconds before you crank. . . Gives the fuel a better chance to pressurize. . . This helped with both the 96 and the 2000 gassers.

I understand that,

but to me if I have to do that... there is a problem? I mean my 2001 Tahoe with 100+k miles never had that issue

I had extended crank times before on my 96 truck..... right before the fuel pump quit on me.

This happened on my '99 Silverado. I thought it was the fuel pressure regulator, but it was the fuel pump.

$700 later I was on my way.
