fuel milage 5.7

Recommended Posts

There are many things that can affect gas mileage. It would help to know what type of transmission you have, the gear ratio of your rear differential, and the average conditions under which the vehicle is driven. That would be a good start.

I believe a '97 Sierra 1/2-ton 4X4 with a 5.7, 4L60 transmission, and 3:73 rear end should be getting about 15mpg overall (avg. city/hwy). I have two similar vehicles and that is about what I get on both, and have since they were new.

i get 16 - 17. My worst so far was 14.5

I have a 97 1500 ext cab 4x4 4l60 3.73

I'd start with a dealer parts tune up. Use the delco plugs and ingition stuff, filters. Make sure brakes arn't draging. Check/Change fluids. Make sure you don't have a crack in yoru intake manifold. When in doubt, take her in to get serviced and explain your gas mileage.
