Bare with me but I have to ask.

I did a search but couldn't find the right wording so I'm asking the question.

I need a new muffler and want something that is nice sounding but not loud. In cab resonance is a concern for me.

I've spoke with Flowmaster and they are saying a 50 Series is what I want?

Then I called Magna FLow and the guy told me that if it were him he would leave it stock. He said that all the mufflers available for the 6.0 gives off some serious resonance in the cab.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have also heard that aftermarket mufflers will resonate at certain RPM's with the 6.0L.

The 70 series muffler from Flowmaster is their quietest.

I know that is their quiet muffler but the guy a flowmaster said they don't have a 70 Series muffler for my truck only a 50 Series. Any expereince with the 50 series?

Check out FloPro, I've got one and it's pretty quiet, you don't hear it a cruise, maybe a little rumble at 2000 rpm then it's gone.

Corsa has a great set up, but they don't make one for the 1500HD trucks

The Flowmaster 70 Series is definately a good idea. I put an a flowmaster american thunder cat-back on my 97 and it came with a 70 series. It was actually a little less noise than i was going for, but it has a reall good sound. And as far as in-cab noise, not a whole lot more than stock.

You can't compare mufflers for the OBS engines with the LSx engines. The firing order has changed and it changes the harmonic of the way the mufflers sound. Magnaflow doesn't recommend their mufflers for the 6.0 if you want it quiet cruising. From what I've read in posts here and Performance Trucks the Magnaflows and even the 70 series Flowmasters cause droning in the 6.0 trucks. For this reason I went with the FloPro 2503.

I'm in the same boat with my 2001 2500 with the 6.0. I talked with Flowmaster and they told me NOT to use their system with that engine. Just a FYI

I don't know what the difference is but like I said above with the Corsa on the 5.3 inside is not much different than stock.

As someone running a 50 series on a 6.0 liter engine I'll tell you this: If in cab resonance is a problem for you, you do not want to use the 50 series Flowmaster that is designed for the big block engines. I have had this set up for alomst 18 months now and I love it but I'm not worried about the resonance. Trust me, you won't like this muffler if you are worried about it.

By chance, I took my brother's '04 Z71 to the exhaust sop for his set up last thursday the 13th and talked with the shop owner about a 6 liter system while I was there. He said they have found a system that works well but this involves replacing most of the exhaust with the exception of the catalytic converter. If anyone would like to speak with the guy about his recommendation, do a search for Deer Park Muffler in Deer Park, Tx.....zip code 77536. Ask for Mark when you call.

He's been in business for around 20 years that I know of and he does d**n good work.
