Anyone using 9005 or 9006's in their fog lights?

I want to replace my stock 9140 (37w) bulbs to silverstars (to match my headlights), but cannot find either a 9140 or even a 9145 bulb anywhere. My truck is a 2005 gmc crew 1/2 ton

 

I read a lot of posts on other forums about people simply installing 9005's (65w) or 9006's (55w) with no problems in terms of overheating or melting the lens/wiring harness.

 

Has anyone here done this, and have you had any problems with overheating ect.

 

Any info would be great.

I put 55 watt fog lights in my truck, and they melted the plastic housings.

I want to say the stock bulbs on my 99 were a 27 watt, the replacements are 38's. I wouldn't go higher.

I am using the 9005's om the fogs, So far so good!! Have had them on for about 6000 miles. I say give it a try. good luck
