Finally got it done

I finally got my body lift installed, I started last Saturday, 11-12-05, worked on it about 6 hours that day, then spent another 3 hours Monday evening, and another 4 hours Thursday evening. All by myself, outside, in the dark on the two nights. Overall very pleased with the results, I considered a suspension lift but felt the body lift was more practical for my purposes.

The only bad thing I think I may have tweaked something, probably the fuel filler neck, too much I got a "Service Engine Soon" light at lunch today, so need to check that out.

Special thanks to Mountaineertom, and Chevy 4x4 trucks, for the install pics and helpful information.

I will post pics as soon as I get some. :shakehead:

Got the code read: P0160 No activity O2 sensor Bank 2 Circuit 2...

I assume that is the passenger side post cat sensor?

Either way I'll nose around tomorrow to see what turns up, I might have pulled a plug loose not paying attention, there is alot to watch while lifting the cab.

I got the kit on EBAY, I don't remember the exact cost but I want to say 250ish? It's a performance accesories, 3" kit. On a side note I ended up with lot's of extra parts, god or bad, I don't know... The hard part was keeping straight which bolt was which, and what bolt the instructions were saying to use and where... Beyond that it was pretty straight forward. You need big metric sockets and ratchet, up to 22mm. A grinder is good for cutting tabs off the bumper mounts.

Upper fan shroud, looks crooked but the shroud is lined up with the radiator

Passenger side rear bumper brzcket looking from driver side, you can see the warning sticker telling me not to use the rear bumper for towing, also the abandoned spare tire winch tube. Now you remove the license plate.

it looks really good i have a 3" body lift kit on mine, the front bumper was a problem too, i no longer can have my tow hooks in there anymore, i used the kit made by performance accessories, it was the best kit i ever seen, came with everything thing, i will take some pics of my front bumper, i didn't have to do anything with the fans or anything because i have electric fans, so the other people that would like to do this kits check your fans and see what you have, it is way easier if you don't have to mess with them

note if you look under your truck now you will notice your air bag sensors are really out there now, i had to make some boxes for mine to cover them up, because i didn't want a large rock or something like that to hit them and sit them off, so if you get some measurements and stuff like that i would make you some boxes for them, i work in a sheetmetal shop so it won't be a big deal at all, just hit me up at [email protected] if you need anything made

Electric fans are on my wish list, along with many other things. Good point about the airbag sensor, I'll have a look see at it when I get home, I'm not real worried about because the truck isn't a daily driver. One thing I noticed after the lift was now my intermediate shaft on the steering column is a little clunky, but it could be my imagination. I haven't really decided on the tow hooks yet, I want some but I want to avoid hacking the valence up more. I've heard HD tow hooks help. At first I wanted the gap gaurds but decided against them, it's easier to clean under there now. I am really happy with it, I'm not nearly as worried about banging the rocker panels or bumpers on things in my few off road adventures as before.

I put the HD tow hooks on my body lifted truck, and they look great -- like it was done at the factory. Best part is no cutting of the valance. Here is a link to my description (sorry the picture subscription expired). If you want the pics, PM me, and I will send them your way.
