Engine Fan

I have a 95 GMC Suburban K1500. Why do some cars cooling fan speeds seem to go a lot faster than others. When they take off the fans roar and sound a lot louder than mind. Is it possible for me to make the fan in my suburban go any faster than what it is?

If your not overheating I would leave it be. The clutch fan is temp sensative. There is usually a liquid inside that stiffens when heated (or in some cases too cool), creating a viscious coupling between the spindle and the blade causing it to spin faster. If you eliminate it, all it will do is suck HP unecisarrily. Clutch fans are becoming a thing of the past just for that reason. The new half tons come with electric cooling fans. Much better.

I would recommend the Taurus E fan.It will move plenty enough air to keep your engine cool. The fan is cheap from a junk yard and if it ever goes bad you can buy a replacement motor for cheap from a parts store.Even on really hot days with the AC on mine would only run as high as 175/180 in traffic. And when going down the road it would mantain about 165.That's with a 160 stat of course.

The Camero or Corvette is almost a bolt in on the truck. Remember that the truck needs a dual fan system because of the displacment.

Any suggestions as to what year Comero/Corvette electric fan system will bolt in to an 02 Silverado 1500? Plus a wireing diagram to hook it up?

Thanks

Id go for some 98-02 f-body e-fans. Not a direct bolt in but a little effort is needed for them to mount up. But it is not hard.

Hit up Allen Nelson for one of his harnesses. Pretty trick setup to control the fans via the PCM. Which IMHO is a ton better than Flex's VSC controller. It has a big bad habit of burning itself, the fuse holder and power leads. The VSC is a pile.
