Hey guys,

The other day I got around to creating some other stuff for my truck.  I made a set of brackets for the fog lights so that they would quit shaking.  They turned out really well...they are really more of a "rear support" for the stock bracket.  I had tried the snap-tie route but that didn't really work..but these things are stout now.  I was also able to retain the ability to aim them.  Anyways, I will have some pics in a few days for y'all to see.

I am going to try to make those wheelwell guards as soon as it gets warmer.  Also, I have a neat idea on how to make the tailgate stronger for loading up heavy stuff.  Kind of a removable rigid brace that you quickly put on whenever you need the extra support.

Mine shake and are pointed at the sky, can't adjust them enough to make them point where they are supposed to! :D

I don't want to spoil this idea, but in my line of work (defense), everything we do is 'shock mounted' so that waves or blasts or other stuff doesn't mess up our stuff.

Is it possible (I have no idea -- honest) that the original set up was designed to 'shake' to help the lights absorb road and other shock that could blow the lamps or dislocate the assembly?

Just asking, the mounts do look good, but I just wonder if that could end up blowing them out at the first real bump.

Mine shake too, but it is not too noticeable kinda like being attached to a really firm spring.

Good luck.

I like the idea.  Thanks for the pics.  Doesn't look like something I could duplicate (exactly) on my own, but It give's me some ideas.  Is that mounting bolt already there or did you have to add it through an existing hole.  (guess I could just go and look)

Citytruck,

The hole is already there.  Whenever I make something I try to avoid drilling holes if possible.  In order to make a bracket like I made, you would have to have a welder, grinder, drill, etc.

Jaw2000,

Thats a good thought...I had never thought of that.  However, I doubt that is the will be a problem.  After all, we have about 10 bulbs mounted rigidly on the front of the truck before we even count the foglights.  Also, I have had some experience with these bulbs before in other lights and they held up well to being mounted rigidly to something.  In fact, I have even mounted a light with that style bulb rigidly to an ATV.  Even with all of the vibration that it produced I never had a problem with the bulbs.  I think, more than anything, that the reason these mounts shake is due to cutting costs and lack of foresight in the design.  I have driven the truck about 1000 miles since I installed them and have had no problems...with about 250 miles with the lights on.

One thing that required some thought when I made this was being able to keep the lights adjustablility.  I was able to do this by using small 5mm nuts and the stock long threaded bolt.
