Autodim mirrors

Hey -

 

This may be a crazy question, but what makes an autodim mirror autodim?

 

The buildsheet for my Tahoe says all are supposed to autodim. When I bought the Tahoe, the passenger side heated part didn't work. I'm pretty sure it was "autodimming". I asked them to fix it. They told me they replaced the mirror glass. Now it seems it doesn't dim.

 

I know this may sound pathetic, but if it's supposed to work - I think it should.

The only ones that autodim are the drivers side and the rearview.

98Silverado is correct. It's only the driver's outside mirror and the rearview mirror that dim. The passenger side never did.

How could I make it so it can? I hate having 1 greenish mirror and one bright as hell.

I don't think you can,As least I've never seen any kind of kit or anything aftermarket for it.

It would be nice though,I've wondered the same thing why they don't autodim.
