What happens with GMPP??

I'd like to get actual facts. If you don't know suggest somewhere for me to look if you could.

I am going to buy GMPP major guard in Feb--$2000 I believe. I don't want to buy this and have gm go belly up and get f'd out of my money!

It happened with warranty gold, I do NOT want it to happen again.

PLEASE please give me some facts.

Shouldn't be any problem. Hardly any company will do their own extended warranty. Typically, they contract out with a third party and may or may not stick their name on it. I forget who GM uses, but the same company works with other resellers as well, even appliances and electronics.

If this happens, then I'm sure GM will sell their contracts out to someone. Since contracts are in place, the new buyer should have to honor anything that is placed in writing; otherwise, offer to buy back the unused portion of the warranty.

None of us know exactly what the future holds, but lets hope that GM will take this opportunity to re-group and build themselves back up stronger. If it happens that they shut the doors, I suspect it will take several years to finally happen.

I think it is stated on my contract. I'll have to dig it up. It isn't a big secret or anything. Usually the language in the contract says something like "... GM PROTECTION PLAN, otherwise known as GE, INC. Corp, et al...."

I have also seen Travelers Insurance in the contract with GMAC partnered. I think it depends on who wins low bid. Now this is different than the many third party extended warranty carriers.
