bed "caps"

I've got a '02 2500HD w/ 8' bed. Factory liner on the inside of the bed but nothing along the top of the bed front to back. I'll call them "caps" but where can I get them? I don't want to do to the dealer, I know they'll want too much.

Bed Rail Caps. Any Truck Store will have 'em. My Bedliner and Rail Caps are non GM. Installed the day after I picked up my '06 GMC 1500 Long Bed.

I've got the GM ones that i bought from gmpartsdirect.com. Very happy with them, they've held up very well. You can sorta see them in my sig pic.

Same for me, except I got mine at my local dealer...for a pretty high price...before I know about GMPD. I still like them a lot regardless of the price.

get the diamond plate caps, they look good and they are durable.

On a previous truck of mine I had the plastic 3M fake diamond plate caps on it...and living in ks where it gets very cold and very hot i did experience some warping...but as with anything else you get what you pay for

No warping for me w/ my GM ones. Mine are not smooth like MountaineerTom's, they match the tailgate cap...if you buy the correct model year it should match your tailgate cap.

The tops of mine are not very smooth either. It's the same texture as the tailgate protector. The sides are a little smoother than the tops though.

Sorry, let me clarify. They changed the design of the bed caps and my '04 has a different pattern on the tailgate cap than your '99 (mine has actual raised rectangles on it....sorry if that's a bad description can't think of a way to describe it). For all i know they have changed it again. My point was if ordering the gm caps, the correct model year will match your tailgate cap pattern whereas another NBS year model would likely fit though it may not match your tailgate cap.
