I feel your anger! That is BULLSH*T! The unions once served a good purpose back when but these bullsh*t contracts are bankrupting GM. The wages and fringe benifits keep going up and the quality keeps going in the dumper. Are these trucks actually worth upwards of $44,000 dollars? I think the frustration your feeling is that you bust your ass all week and cant afford to do squat! Christ a cup of coffee is almost 2 bucks! The price of vehicles and the price of most other goods have far outstripped the wages of the average American. In Example : JOBS SHIFTING TO LOWER-PAID INDUSTRIES: "In 48 out of 50 states, jobs are shifting from higher-paying industries such as manufacturing and information to lower-paying industries such as retail and hospitality, according to a report released today by the Economic Policy Institute. In California, for example, the average pay in industries that are growing is $34,742, 40% less than the average wage in industries that are shrinking, $57,800." [san Jose Mercury News, 1/22/04; EPI study, 1/21/04] And this is getting worse, By hospitality they mean fast food like McDonalds. So tell me this, How can anyone buy a new vehicle or house or anything else for that matter on a wage supplied by McDonalds?

:wtf:

Isn't it sad that you can't voice your own opinion for fear of getting warned, banned or whatever.

I dont think anyone is afraid of getting warned or banned, its just that "almost" everyone is smart enough to realize when to keep quiet. There are times when posts dont mean anything significant or they dont help to answer someones question, so why post it if it will only cause trouble. Yes we do have an off topic area for people to voice their opinions, have fun, and all of that, but its an Off Topic forum, not a free for all fight forum. If you are into that kinda of stuff there are plenty of other websites where they do just that, no matter what their title says. Since this post was started about something that made a user mad, I guess my post will fall right in.

This isnt meant to stop you from posting things like this BigMikeO or PaulieK, incase you didnt get my drift...

All I have to say on the union thing, It's a freaking shame.

Unfortuneately Unions are what built America, Basically speaking. So I'd feel bad talking junk about them.

One other thing....

This thread title didn't say anything about Politcal correctness, or people getting banned or warned. I for one (and I'm sure most will agree) think that ceasing talk about anything other than Unions, would be a terrific idea! :wtf:

Your right, the unions build America but they are also going to destroy it. There was a time and place for them and that day has passed by a few decades or so. In my opinion, the union concept is not much different than communism. I feel it is safe to say anybody that holds a managerial or salary position within the automotive industry feel the same. Us car guys are not alone, the management and salary folks in other industries such as UPS that have their own union problem (teamsters) feel the same. Like Forest Gump would say….I guess that’s all I gotta say about that.

Seems to me that everyone wants it to be better, but no one is willing to step up and take the leadership/ upper tier position, which would allow them to make the changes.

Just look at the presidential elections. No one runs because of the cop out that you need money and influence. If enough people at least tried, it might remedy the situation. It kinda falls under the saying "Police your own" Wasn't Jimmy Carter a peanut farmer from Georgia, or is that propaganda?

If you look at the Media coverage availiable for little or no cost, you could get the word out very effectively. The Internet is a great example.

If you don't know your rights, you don't have any. I really wonder how many people don't really know the abilities and rights that a U.S. citizen really has.

If everyone starts complaining about how the Country is going to hell in a handbasket, ask yourself, "What are they (I) doing to change it or make it better.?" Heck, even a position on the Local County board or School board is better than nothing.

In my humble opinion, as long as the average Joe has:

Gas in his SUV

Food in his refrigerator

and

1,000,000 Cable channels

He won't do anything. There is a reason citizens are called "Sheeple".

i firmly believe in some unions as i have seen where some have directly affected employees for the better, i know of one particular that the agency has takenm and ran with all ideas without even considering the harmful effects, However the negative side is they can also have a decreased affect.

Regardless of anyones opinions the big 3 are not going to be able to sustain operations at this current pace, and changes are going to be made weather the uaw likes them or not!

There are too many pros and cons about unions to list. They are currently an easy scapegoat for our economy. Nothing said by anyone, myself included, will change anybodys opinion pro union or anti union. People tend to believe what they want regardless of the facts.

Someone once said--"If we forget the past we are doomed to repeat it." I think we're forgetting the past. Just my opinion.
