Hard lid (Tonnaeu Cover)

Ok got in touch with the local rhino dealer

They said the leer 600 and leer 700 will work with the whale tail (its staying).

$695 for the 600

$795 for the 700

I am thinking about the 600 cause i have seen this one up close and on another blue truck like mine and it looks good.

Just wondering will my bedrail caps (wade) be able to stay on?

You're getting a spoiler on your truck?

Like shane said, what does the extra 100 bucks get you?  I'm probably getting a hard tonneau this summer so I've got some extra dry storage when I go on trips.

Ok i got a reply saying the bedrail caps will work fine.

As for the $100 difference i have no idea.

"Whale tail" = the wing looking tailgate protector on the silverados

Jon no im not getting a spoiler.  I may get a set of racks to put on it just for a sporty look.  There is a ford at school with a lid and racks and it looks awesome

sorry ryan, when you said whale tail I thought you meant that "whale tail" spoiler set up deally.  I think it's called whale something.

I say get the one that's 100 bucks cheaper unless that 100 bucks gets you something super cool like a gun mounted underneath :sarcasm:

there are 3 trucks in my area with the rear spoiler and it looks silly

Hi Guys and Gals, I'm new to the forum as far as responding but have been reading it since I got my Monster back in July.

Anyway the difference between the Leer 600 and the 700 (which I have) is that on the 700 they copied the design flow of the hood onto the lid and also the underside of the lid is carpeted standard which is an option on the 600.

if you missed it in your other post I'll state it again

leer covers are the biggest piece of #### ever made, they are poor quality and a HUGE waste of money

As soon as I can find shop time to make my own metal cover I'm ditching mine and then pissing on it.

The fiberglass is as wavy as the atlantic ocean in a storm,

the latches won't stay tight and turn,

the locking mechanism is freezing up down in the handle and won't pop out,

it is heavy as lead and hard to raise,

and no matter how much you adjust the damn thing it still is hitting the bed corners and tearing my paint all to ####.

a flush mount lid is a #### of alot cheaper and will fit in your bed around that stupid tailgate cover gm (wtf where they thinking making that thing) came up with.

I have seen the 600 on a few new silverados in this area.  I asked them (this was when i worked in a lumber yard) how they liked it and they had no complaints.

My dad has a leer cap on his S-10 and never had anything wrong with it

Your the only person i have heard who had anything negative to say about them

As for the flush mount and stuff i basically want the cover so i can throw bags and junk back there when i travel this summer.  Id rather not clog up the ext cab and make people uncomfortable

I have a Leer 700 and I'm pretty happy with it.  The fit and finish are excellent, although it is pretty heavy and not too convenient to take on and off.  I like the carpeted lining and the fact that it has automotive-style latches actuated by stainless steel cables, just like your hood latch.
