i went to dim my lights and they didnt dim, and started hearing a buzzing, upon investagating i found the buzzing coming from a relay. i changedthe multifunction switch, the relay, and the ehadlight switch, but it still doesthe same thing. i have checked the grounds on both fenders, they are good and tight, clean. one of the wires going in to the headlight switch gets hot. and i noticed my cruise started acting up at first. it would cruise for about two minutes then slowly slow down. on my lights, when i put them on dim, the bright light indacater stays lite up. and if my drl are off is when i get the buzzing( head lights on dim). truck charges at 14 volts on bright, 7 on dim. this tells me i have a short. how do i find it and where do i look?

check your steering colum mine was shorted out and i also had a friend doing a similar thing. i took mone to a wireing guy and he looked at it and said the Gm trucks are notorius for this if you use the tilt sterring, it streches and freys the wires. I have never heard of one doing what your saying but its worth a shot. i would pull the colum cover and take a look to see what you can see.

Finding a short is a process of elimination. There's no magic answer. Start disconnecting things in the circuit to isolate where the problem is.
