EGR Valv?

Hey Guys,

 

My truck still stumbles when you accelerate, only when it is cold out.  It is does not seem like the engine is missing, rather stumbeling.  I have replaced all ignition parts except the coil and the distributer itself.  Somebody said to chek the EGR Valve.  It seems very stiff when you push it with your finger.  Does anybody know how to check it.  I need to get this fixed before it take the truck to the drag strip.  Any ideas on how to fix this stumble would be greatly appreciated.

Don't have direct EGR experience w/ the prev. generation c/k models, but my '95 Jimmy w/ Vortec 4.3 started acting up @ about 75K miles and 3 years old.  

 

It started OK, but felt like it was running on about 4 cylinders, no power, sputter, backfire (not enough to blow off muffler though), stall out.  It was diagnosed w/ a carbon'd up EGR valve.  Don't know if yours is similar linear EGR, however.  The dealer ran a carbon cleaning solution through it, and that fixed the problem.  I did enough research to see that many '90s models cars/trucks had EGR problems at that time.

 

Perhaps yours is beginning to stick some, but my Jimmy gave no warning - ran so bad, cold or warm, my wife couldn't hardly get it off the street onto the shoulder!

I am going to have the truck looked at tomorrow or Wednesday.  I have my suspicions that it might be emissions related.  If not, than spark or fuel.  Either way I'll keep you posted.

my experience with a bad EGR valve is that d truck will idle like crap, 2 d point is almost stalls, then my service engine light came on.
