steering shafts

I spoke will the people at Borgeson & Mullins about the shafts they make and am told they are for 4wd vechicles,Do the two WD silverados have the same shaft? I have a 2003 1500 silverado.

Nope,There not the same,Different part numbers for 2 & 4 wheel-drives.

Is this a better quality replacement for the infamous intermediate steering shaft? If so, how much does it cost and would it void warranty if substituted for the OEM shaft?

I'd say just about anything is better than the OEM part. They've repacked mine with that new grease, worked for a while. Still haven't taken it back under my extended warranty for the issue because there's no great fix for it. I'm planning on purchasing one of the Borgeson & Mullins' shafts in the spring and replacing it myself.

They give you a 5 yr, unlimited mileage warranty on the part (haven't seen the fine print yet) - but that beats the 12,000 mile GM replacement part warranty. The re-greasing of the shaft lasted only 13-15k miles.

Cost is $231 - pricey but I'll pay that if it works and eliminates the problem.
