Question about Tires

Before I bought my truck, I was looking at one (2005 Sierra, Charcoal Grey, Ext Cab z71), the thing that really caught my eye on it was the wheels/tires... It had the factory 20"wheels, but they had some sort of off road tire, which I believe was made by bf goodrich. This truck didnt have a lift either. I was wondering if anyone has seen this option, or could recommend a tire to fit 20" wheels, on a 2005 sierra with no lift.

I originally was considering getting some black 20" wheels for my truck, and mounting some off road tires on them, but it seems a decent set of aggresive off road type of tires for 20s will cost as much as the wheels themselves. Maybe I'll just get smaller wheels......

20's and off road tires? Are sure they were 20's and no lift?

Intresting. I wonder how good of an off road tire that would be with such little sidewall?

I just ordered 285/65 BFG AT's for my 18 inch rims I just bought. I shouldn't need to lift the truck, but I plan to get the 1.5 inch cogs and shocks from offroad unlimited (if no noe has any objections, gonna start a thred).

Hope you find a answer.

The truck I saw them on was a brand new truck, and did not look to sit any higher than stock... so I am pretty sure it did not have a lift.

I would like to get some big wheels(black 20" with the chrome lip) for my truck for looks, but since I don't want to lift it or put small tires on it, I'm probably gonna have to look into some nice 18's.

Another thing is alot of the wheels I have looked at say they are offset for rwd, but I'm not sure if they are set right, and if they would be strong enough for a truck. If anyone knows where I can check out some nice black truck wheels(not the plain looking kind) let me know... thanks

There are a few companies that make the off-road tire with a larger rim. They are suiting to the "big rim" style that most people like. I always assumed that it was appearance over function because the sidewall is so small. But, on the other side a mud tire on a big wheel does have a cool look and it would get through inclement weather in the suburbs!!

I have a 3in body lift with the torsion bars cranked and I am running 20s with 35in Nitto Terra Grappler. I like them real well. Had to trim spoiler a little but other than that, they fit good. Here are some pics.

Why the hell would you put 20s on a d**n 4x4? You a street queen or like a drug dealer or just a dumbass?

God, it's good to know you accept other peoples tastes. I am sure he likes the way it looks. Personally I think it looks badass. Also, you shouldn't be calling anybody a "drug dealer" with a stupid a$$ signature like you have. And you sure as hell don't need to be calling anyone a "dumbass". Would you like me to bring a couple of your stupid threads and posts for everyone to see? Hell, just look a couple of threads down and you will find your intelligent thread about "minimum lift for 305's". If you would click the search function then you wouldn't need to ask dumb questions. God, I am sick of people like you on message boards. Don't come on here bashing other people when you are f&cking tool to begin with.

Dude get a life and stop trashing other peoples rides. first of all, people come here to have discussions about GM products and ask questions without fear of being ridiculed. second, i don't know what you do on your weekends but i personally don't cruise around impressing "hoes". third, you are the tool here not us. just look at your sig.

and finally,

You Sir are a grade A jackass

Yeah sorry that I like for my 4x4 to actually be functional..and not just a tool for impressing the "hoes"

Oh s**t, your right. I completely forgot that everyone buys a 4x4 truck to bury it in the mud. How could I be so clueless. You sir are a jackass. Also, you are bordering on rascist comments, so I would watch your ignorant step if I were you. :D

    • Actually, it probably was the brakes.  It's weird the way the messages came across, but I took it to the dealer thinking that something was wrong with the sensor and in fact, the rear brakes were shot.  What I don't understand is why the messages never said, your brake pads are low.  First I got the message I posted above, taking about new pads being detected.  Then I got a message saying that the system needed repaired.  It never said, change your brake pads.
    • Did the KYBs keep it the same height in the front? I was concerned that pre-assembled assembly would raise it up an inch to standard non-z60 height.. I guess which it would make the rake 1 inch instead of 2 inches.
    • Thank you for keeping the train on the tracks and for a thoughtful engagement. I enjoyed the reflection on a previous stance to refine and improve your position. I like that inquisitive flexibility about you Atlas.    No the process isn't sterile. Hundreds, perhaps thousands of miles of piping, vessels, pumps. Chevron, the people I worked for, were keenly aware that there is a market for what is known as their "ISOCLEAN" line of lubricants. These are lubricants that are the same as those sold bulk that are further processed by filtration to a level your particular application demands. They will filter and package and provide lab documentation as required. Do not kid yourself. Every gallon of oil that goes into a Chevron Turbine, reciprocating compressor, generator is prefiltered and tested before being charged. Lest wise it was when I was there in the plants I worked in.    There are requirements set by manufactures for the cleanliness of the oils used in their equipment. OTR such as CUMMINS has standards shared with customers on this. Commercial interest selling to Ma and Pa do, but don't share that information. Not even upon request but internally, they do exist.    The GM study sited, (Graph from Machinery Lubrication in previous post) only shows "relative" importance.  I find that fascinating. By constructing the graph like this they admit there are dozens of factors in engine life and via scientific method determined the effect of 'relative cleanliness' on engine life not in miles but in 'FACTORS'. This allows a certain amount of reverse engineering does it not?   They even provided some touchstones. Beta 75 as a reference point. Wonderful stuff!!   Smaller blenders CAN and some DO take the time and effort to do better than a refinery or large bulk blender, like Warren Oil, in improving the "in the can" cleanliness. No I don't have a list but testing could generate that information.    Again, but one of several levers we can pull to improve engine life. The simplest is keeping a clean work station while doing your own oil changes.
