4 lo-light blinking

Coming back from duck hunting last night, I was coming up a hill with some deep ruts and decided to engage 4 lo. The light kept blinking and never stayed lit. What would've caused this? I hit 4 hi and didn't have any problems. Thanks!

i believe the transmission has to be in neutral to go to 4-low.

you have to traveling between 3 and 5 mph to shift to 4-LO

As stated in the second post, you should be in neutral (or clutch ALL the way down w/ 5 spd.) and not moving for 4 lo.

I once, accidently, hit 4 lo going very slow (probably less than 5 mph) and got a not so good sounding clunk, and have always been told NOT to shift to 4 lo while moving.

Yes, sometimes you might have to move a little to get the gears engaged, but that should only be a foot or so.

If you weren't moving and in nuetral when you tried it , then there may be something wrong.

I read through my manual and it said you must be traveling below 3mph

It will go in when moving or sitting still as long as it's in neutral. I personally always put mine in 4lo from a stop and it works fine.
