Seat needs to recline more. any ideas???

ok yall after a road trip with the truck i got to thinking about how these seats just dont recline much

 

so what i am wondering if anyone has a idea or maybe have seen a item that lets the seat lay flat or atleast more than the current factory stop

 

 

it seems that your seats should be able to lay back in a crew cab

The fed regs stopped the old "lay-it-back-all-the-way-seats" for the GM trucks. Not sure how today's cars are doing with that. My old Grand Am can lay back all the way, but my Mother's La Sabre 2003 cannot.

 

I think you'd need to be really handy with metal frame (seat frame) modification and a welder to make it work.

well looks like im gonna go look for a seat out of a junk yard and have some fun grindin cuttin an welding

I would leave the seat in the upright position. I'd hate to think that you were driving a vehicle, laying down, being COOL :flag: Relaxed :fume: , and headed my way. I'm surprised that they issue drivers licenses to fools that think "rolling deep " is accectable.

I don't think that is the intent. I have slept many a night in pickups in years past by reclining the seat. These new seats are not practical for snoozing when one is out camping, or having to lay over in the woods for some job.

as said above i dont want to try and look kool i mean cmon i drive a big truck thats good enoff :cheers:

 

but as to only give more comfort to me when parked

 

i also hate the rollin deep BS that ricers do

rollin deep?  I thought it was "The Detroit Lean" :fume:

 

 

 

 

"Rollin' Deep" can be combined with the "Detroit Lean" to acheive the ultimate in "Pimped Out-ed-ness" or Auto Operators Safety.

 

However the two have very diferent meanings.

 

The "Rollin' Deep" mode is used when traversing an area that you are known to be unwelcome in, like say an oposing gang's "turf." The point of "Rollin' Deep" is to place ones head behind the rear of the door frame to avoid being shot in the grape should anyone decide they need a little moving target practice. :cheers:

 

The "Detroit Lean" is a manuver used to aid the drive in the event of a Car Jacking. It serves two purposes; a.) it keeps the drivers head away from the window. b.) it gives the driver a head start should they need to bail out of the passengers side if the assailant is insistant and truely armed. :flag:

Thanks for the ghetto style lesson...I agree the seats need to recline more for sleeping, not while driving. I've logged many an uncomfortable hour in those front seats while rained out on a fishing or hunting trip. Dibs on the back seat!

The only thing I can really say ford used to do better than Chevy is their bench seat sleeps better side ways(head on left side, feet on the right). Heck if I'd had a Chevy instead of that 91 ford, i might have one ex-wife less! Before you ask I was innocent.

Teh recline angle is limited byt eh recliner mechanism design and the "split-back" seat design. I wouldn't mess with it. Bad things would happen in an accident.
