i have a 2000 GMC 2500 4x4 and i need a new set of tires. I did a search and there seems to be a lot of good tires out there. This truck isn't for offroading it spends 99% on its time on the road but i would still like to have a a/t for that one time i will need it. I've looked at the revos but there more than what i wanted to spend on tires. the yokohama geolandars a/t +II seem like a good all around choice and the price can't be beat for about $100 a tire. My question is how will this tire handle pulling a 16' or 18' trailer with a car on it from time to time?

I don't know much about Yoko's but have you looked at the General Grabbers at2's. They are also around $100 a tire and have a 60 thousand mile tread life.

Here goes the proverbial "a buddy of mine" comment. But, a buddy of mine has a 1500 HD with the Geolander II's. He pulls a 21' car trailer. He is usually pulling either a '69 Camaro SS or a Ford tractor with attacments. He is the most picky SOB walking the Earth. Anyhow, he has nothing but good things to say about those tires. So far, they are wearing very well. I think that they have a little more road noise than BFGs, but it isn't too much. I can't stand the whimpy stock tires on my CC, so I've been leaning towards the Geolanders and BFGs. I just don't know if the BFGs are worth the extra $80 a tire.

I run the 285's on mine and have since new 3yrs ago. I pull a 14' enclosed trailer loaded with lawn eqiupment. They are honestly the best tire I have ever run. Excellent traction in ALL conditions with the aggresive AT tread design. I have 36K miles on mine and I am around 50% on the tread so far but I think they will most likely need replaced after this season before winter. They are quiet, they look good and the price is right too so they will be my replacements when needed.

I have a set on my yukon. I like them. The did seam to wear fast untill i got the PSI figured out. I have LT265/75-16. Side wall states 65 PSI. I was blowing the centers out at 50 PSI. At the 34 the door sticker states to inflat tire to made it feel like i was driving on flat tires. I run mine at 44PSI. Are wearing great about 25,000 miles and 50% tread left. Just my .02

I have then on my 98 GMC now after I moved them from my old 93 GMC to the newer truck. I like them a lot and they seem to be wearing well so far. They tow much nicer than the "P" rated tires I had before. I tow a Jeep on a flatbed trailer (approx. 6000 pounds) and every is great - even with a 1/2 ton truck.

Well i got my tires mounted and balanced today. I bought a set of the factory aluminum rims off ebay to replace the steel ones. I mounted the rims and torqued them down to 110ft pounds(i did it in steps) and went for a test drive. Much nicer ride than my E rated discovery tires. I rechecked the torque and went to put the center caps on and they wont bolt on. After a quick search i read that the steel and aluminum center caps are different. Is it just the plastic lugs that are different or is it the hole center cap?
