New 2007 Tahoe/Yukon Owners

The new 2007 Tahoe/Yukon vehicles have been out for a month now... I scanned the recent posts and only find people who sat in one at a dealer or a car show. I sat in a new Tahoe at the LA Auto Show and it was very nice.

Where are all the new owners that bound on to these forums all excited about their new toy? Are these things selling at all? I have yet to see a new one on the street on the central coast of California.

New owners, we need to hear from you!

I think that people are waiting for the discounts to kick in on them. The ones on the lot that I have seen cost $47-50,000, that is a lot of dough. You can go buy a brand new '06 with 0% apr, if I were looking I would take gm up on that offer before I bought an '07.

Yep, that's exactly what I did. Although I do like the look of the new Tahoe, I really don't care for the new Yukon. And since I was able to get 0% for 72 months, $3,500 in GM Card earnings, and my '06 Yukon Denali at $500 below dealer invoice, I couldn't pass up the deal. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to hearing from 2007 owners. As soon as they open up 0% for the '07's (I'm not holding my breath, however), I'll have one in my driveway

I just purchased a 2007 Tahoe about a week ago. What would you like to know?

I actually found my way on these forums because I'm trying to figure out a way of disabling some of the lockout features of the navigation system which is frustrating the hell out of me. My biggest gripe is that once speed has gone over 5mph it locks out the ability to search or add new waypoints or points of interest. So if I'm traveling on the highway and need to find the closests gas station I have yet to figure out how to do that without pulling over and coming to a stop in order to do the search. Yes I understand this is probably some stupid liability issue for GM but if I have a passanger they should be more than able to fiddle with the system while I drive. I use a garmin system in my 2001 Tahoe and compared to that one the nav in the 2007 becomes about worthless just because of this one issue.

The navigation features are not the only thing it locks out. XM browsing using the category view is also disabled at speed. So flipping through 100+ channels can be a bit of a pain at times since, I haven't found a way to type a channel number directly. I see now why they have 6 pages of storable favorite channels. Which brings me to another gripe. The steering wheel controls only allow you to cycle through one page of favorites. You have to take your hand off the wheel and select a different favorites page for the steering wheel controls to be able to select those list of presets.

A few more gripes while I'm at it: The Navigation system manual states that I should have Bose Noise cancellation built in since my vehicle came with the Bose Speaker system, however it's not there.

Voice activitated commands has yet to correctly distinguish between "XM" or "FM" when spoken. I've tried this one with about 8 different people now, and it hasn't got it correct yet.

The auto dimming feature of the Navigation Display does not seem to work, or I haven't figured out how to inable it properly. When I set it to "auto" I'm expecting it to dim the brightness of the nav system at night, and brighten during the day. It doesn't do that.

And now for my biggest gripe of all. Since all these issues I have are with what basicly amounts to issues with computer software, you would think a technical support number would make sense. However that is not available. Instead I have to take the car to the dealer service dept where a mechanic will take a few hours or days to determine there is nothing mechanically wrong with the system. So if anyone has a number for software tech support at GM, I'm all ears. :banghead:

So, besides those minor issues, this new Tahoe is awesome! I'm just floored with what Chevy has accomplished with the interior. And the transmission seems a lot smoother than the one in my 2001 tahoe. However, my 01 feels faster off the line than this new one, I think the 07 has gained a bit of weight.

Sorry, didn't mean for my first post to turn into a novel! ;)

How are you liking the seats? Seems like I've read mixed reviews on the internet that the new seats are smaller and firmer, yet others say they are more comfortable than previous years.

I have similar issues with the navigation in my '06 Yukon Denali. The only way I've found to dim the screen at night is to manually go into the settings and lower the brightness. It seems like the only thing the auto dimming does is change the navigation screen from white to black, but the blue audio screen stays the same. Also the address search is not as intuitive as other systems I've used.

Ditto on the pics, can't wait to see a real one in action!:banghead:

How about some pictures? We'd love to see a "real" one and not publicity pics.  :wtf:

Sheesh... were are my manners! ;)

The color is Silverstone Birch. It actually has more tan in the color than I was expecting. The wife likes it though, and she's the boss! ;)

The front is actually pretty mean looking. However I have found a downside to the soft bumper. On my 2001 Tahoe I could stand on the bumper to wash the hood... not gonna happen with this one! :banghead:

An interior shot. My favorite part of the vehicle! We got the dark titanium interior.

I guess I should have speciefied before, this is an LT3 optioned Tahoe, with the following added:

Rear bucket seats,

Navigation system/without rear seat entertainment (There is a difference in Nav units),

Locking rear diff,

3.73 gears (for towing the vette :bs: ),

Rain sense wipers (actually works pretty good)

Power lift gate (sometimes this doesn't work  )

Power folding rear seats. (If the button is pushed it will try to fold even if you are sitting in the seat! :banghead: )

Oz, the new seats are smaller, but that is because they no longer have the integrated seat bealts. I still prefer the seats in the 01 Tahoe as these new ones do indeed feel firmer. I'm actually having a hard time finding a comfortable driving postition in this new one. If it had telescoping steering wheel it would be perfect.

Nice truck

I still cant used to the headlights. That is the one thing holding me back from really liking them. If the new silverados go that way (which I am sure they will) I guess I will be holding onto my 00 much longer than I thought

Now see, I actually like the new front ends much better than the Silverado ones. The silverados and avalanches have a "mean" look, with raised eyebrows. I like the more polished and chiseled look of the new Tahoe.

How do you like the cylinders on demand system on the engine?? Do you notice when it changes from 4 to 8 cylinders and do you notice better fuel economy than with your 01 Tahoe???

If it wasn't for the indicator on the message center I would never know it had a cylinders on demand system. When you switch the message center to display "Instant MPG" it shows to the side either "V8 Mode" or "V4 Mode" It really on displays "V4 Mode" when I'm either coasting on the highway or if going down hill. The slightest application of throttle and the display switches back to displaying "V8 mode".

With my 01 Tahoe I get about 16mpg on the highway and I believe it has a 3.73 rear gearing. The 07 with 3.73 rear gearing is getting about 17 to 18mpg on the highway with normal driving. If I REALLY try I've seen an average of 20mpg. But that's going the speed limit or below and letting it coast as much as possible on the highway, and of course that's no fun!

I towed my Corvette on my open car trailer (close to 6,000lbs towing weight) this past weekend with the 07 and I averaged 12.5 mpg. So it's not getting any better mpg than my 01 does towing the same trailer and car.

One interesting thing I've noticed about the displacement on demand system, when stopped at a light or idleing in park it stays in "V8 mode" according to the display. You'd think it would switch to V4 mode so that it's not spraying fuel in the other cylinders.

Hey all,

I just drove home our 07 Tahoe last night and it is very nice. I bought it for my wife and she is in love. We bought the same color as the one pictured above except we have Ebony leather.

I have an 06 Avalanvhe and I like the seats better in my AV, but it is a great truck! We got the buckets in the second row and I love the interior.

It does not get the 21 on interstate that they claim. We drove last night 180 miles on I-95 with cruise set on 75 and the best we could do is 17 even.

Still, it is worth it!

The truck was so new, our sales rep did not even know the features yet. He said they go for training next week.

I loved the look of it so much that we bought it without driving or even sitting in it.

My only problem is finding accessories that match the new body style. I want to get rainguards for the windows and can not find them yet. Anyone have any sources?
