I just got my 03 2500 HD back from the shop today for a bad starter. Now "Check oil level" appears on start up for approx. 5 sec. Oil level is fine. It has never done this before. Thanks

Oil level sensor going bad? Maybe got unplugged when they changed the starter.

At least your oil level is were it should be. My truck returned from the dealer last week after an oil cooler line replacement due to leaking. The truck had two quarts of oil in it. The mech forgot to fill it.

There is a a big chance that the mechanic forgot to plug the oil level sensor back in. On my truck(see sig) it needs to be unplugged when removing the starter so it won't be in the way, so I'm guessing the same needed to be done with your truck. There is also a chance that the mechanic may have bumped the sensor with the starter and damaged it. Take a quick peek under your truck. The oil level sensor is a thing that sticks out of the oil pan on the passenger's side under the starter. That's where it is on mine anyway. Good luck!
