Interesting observation

Ok, I'm not one to drive so fast on a regular basis that I hit the speed limiter a lot. Actually, I had only done it twice before just to see what happens. Both times it was right at 97 MPH. The last time i did it was probably a couple years ago. Well, tonight I was coming back home and was on a long stretch of road, so i put it to the floor again. This time it went to 105 and seemed to still be going, but I let off. Now, the only things I can think of that I've done that would remotely be related to this sine the last time I hit the limiter is

1) I changed the BCM out. I put one in from a Tahoe so I could get the headlight override and program my own door locks. I highly doubt the BCM has anything at all to do with it though.

2) I swapped out the original instrument cluster for one from a Denali back in December '05. I bought it from Jason Pendlum (of JP Customs) and he did the programming of mileage and hours for me before he shipped it out.

This was a big suprise because I thought that was controlled by the ECM (or is it PCM?), which I have not changed.

When the truck was under warranty, the dealer flashed the ECM/PCM with some updates, but I highly doubt they raised the limiter.

Anyone else notice anything like this? I know a lot have swapped clusters and had the ECM/PCM tuned, but has anyone swapped only the cluster and noticed the limiter raised?

Who tuned the ECM ... or PCM? In my '03, the speed limiter is controlled by the PCM. Removing the speed limiter is an option for a Westers tune. Not sure about other tuning services/programmers.

No one. It still has the original one in it, which has never been removed.
